Hey guys... At work we have a 350mp and run mostly aluminum sheetmetal and a little SI/bronze. Ive been trying to get a tig setup to show how it could be useful for alot of the brazing jobs also for other steel projects that come up occasionally... I brought in my tig rig to show, but I need some lugs to hook that up to the terminals, but more importantly what setting would I use it on with out a pedal or finger amp-trol... if its even possible???.... Would it be able to go for aluminum or just steel?
Reply:The 350MP is a DC only power supply. That means in general no aluminum TIG. There are exceptions but not easy ones. I refer you to the Lincoln web site for the operator's manual:https://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-c...%20MIG%20350MPThere are 2 different ones chose the one applicable to the machine in question. From one of the manuals:The POWER MIG® 350MP is a complete semiautomaticmulti-process DC arc welding machine offeringCV and CC DC welding. It is rated for 350 amps, 32volts at a 60% duty cycle. The standard machine isequipped to weld CC-Stick, CC-GTAW, CV-FCAW,and synergic and non-synergic CV-GMAW / GMAW-Pand Pulse-on-Pulse and Power Mode weldingprocesses. See the descriptions for Pulse onPulse™and Power Mode welding processes later inthis section. The basic sequence of operation.1. Use SET toggle to select GTAW (Mode 03)2. Adjust desired amperage using WFS/AMPS CONTROL.If using an optional foot or hand Amptrol tocontrol current this setting will be maximum whenthe Amptrol is fully depressed or extended.3. Energize output with either a remote trigger deviceplugged into the remote connector, or rotateVOLTS/TRIM CONTROL clockwise.4. Touch tungsten to work piece and lift off to establish thearc.5. START can be set by using the SELECT toggle. Use theWFS/AMPS Control to set the respective start current.Have fun.---Meltedmetal
Reply:Okay thanks... So to energize the torch, one needs to turn the knob to turn on and off??? A triggering device??? Can that be made or is that a bought device??? I ask as there only seams to be just a Lincoln made pedal available...

Reply:Awesome thanks for the link.. I'll pass it along to see if I can get it done... It's a 6 pin screw in type plug for the remote... With the gas hook-up, on the back it shows 2 gas inlets, one for mig(as it currently is) and the other for spool gun. I'm assuming that also means Tig and has a solonoid for gas on/off?Or am I to rely on just the torch gas valve??

Reply:Look for the accessories in the back of the owner's manual. There is a set of adaptors. that will extend the terminals out to dinze connectors. One has a gas hose so if your torch is a one hose torch with a dinze plug on it. It will connect right up. They are about a foot long with ring lugs on one end and dinze plugs on the other. Should be with tig accessories.Should be a program for panel TIG. Just like stick welding. left knob control current and right knob with turn output on. No HF so torch is lift start. If you plug in a remote control, it should switch on its own to remote control. Then to start an arc you step on foot control then touch torch and start the arc.Should all be talked about in the owner's manual. The same adapters can be used for stick welding. Just reverse polarity.
