Aluminum to thin steel tube

Hello,Thoughts on if Silicone Bronze or other filler rod recommended to stick together what seems to be a 1/8" aluminum tube over a thinner cheap foreign made yard goal post tube - I have the bottom support of a football field goal I'm reparing for my son - my daughter and 3 friends packed into a 2 person gokart mowed it down - then - a landscaper removed a plastic hat I had marking it not to mow over and finished murdering the stub.  I cut and cleaned and was either going to attempt some Silicon Bronze sticking - OR - use a construction adhesive!  tbh - the latter is likely going to win - BUT - if I was going to fire it up - what would YOU do?!Thx,John
Reply:Every time I weld dissimilar metals, I go vague, atta boy! What comes from the ground????????What broke from it when your whole family ran over it?None here can fix your family blunder until we grasp how they broke a dissimilar object.Everything I ever broke was of aluminum, steel, sometimes unobtaneum. Never once broke something of two metals.An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. A pessimist is usually right, when wrong, is delighted, and well prepared.
Reply:A day without some splode welding is like a day without sunshine!I think I'd go for the caulk-gun Liquid Nails.
Reply:Yep fair enough- rushed an opinion request with not enough info.  I'm going to hit it with liquid nails and call it a day.  It's a child's toy.  Steel broke from steel fwiw - my repair material involves a piece of aluminum pipe as that is what I had in an available and useable size in my garage.

Reply:You can also do explosive welding for dissimilar metals like that. Reply:In wartime, shipbuilders noticed that aluminum welded itself to steel when a rocket exploded near the two. Sometimes they use that when building ships, but with a controlled explosion. For you, welding Aluminum to steel is not going to happen. Find some scrap steel and stay off the football field with the 4 wheeler. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
