I have seen quite a few people using 3M Roloc discs on Youtube for cleaning metal, finishing etc.  I have an Ingersoll 90 degree die grinder on its way and decided to get some discs to keep on hand.  I went to 3M website and quickly became overwhelmed.  Do you guys have suggestions as to what the most useful Rolocs are to keep on hand? Thanks
Reply:I like the 3" flap disks altho they are pricey. The maroon and brown scotch brite discs are nice for cleaning without removing much material. They also make a nylon type abrasive brush that works like a wire wheel. They work great for cleaning gaskets and such but are very pricey. The regular sanding-grinding discs in a few difference grits are probably the most useful.
Reply:I use Norton Blaze orange 50 grit mostly because that’s what McMaster-Carr stocks. They work just fine.3M is good probably cost more IDK. I have some Klingspor stuff also, not bad but the Blaze seem to last a bit longer. Get a lot of free samples from the Klingspor rep.All the discs MJD mentioned are very useful.Last edited by metalman21; 02-18-2021 at 12:06 AM.Ernie F.
