I ask this in general terms, not trying to do the absolute thinnest possible. :-)Got a iMIG 230i and haven’t been able to get everything setup and going yet, getting close. Out of curiosity, using Lincoln L-56 .030 wire, 75/25 gas what’s the thinnest practical metal can weld?I realize can get .023 wire and it would be better for thin metal, just wondering with what I have, the thinnest practical metal is. And I know that an experienced/skilled welder can weld thinner stuff than I can.  Thinking more along the lines of fixing/repairing small things that need little welding done. When don’t want to change wire and do simple repairs and such. Not welding car body panels or something that needs to have nice looking welds.Again, just general question, not the absolute thinnest etc When I get it going shortly I’ll try and see what I can do, but thought I’d ask. Cheers, Allen

Reply:That’s pretty impressive, didn’t realize it would work on that thin of metal with .030 wire. Anxious to get it going and start welding with it.
