Looking for a Universal DC Converter for my Ward 295 AC welder. These came branded as "Linde", "Union", "Montgomery Ward", and "Century" to my knowledge. Century is the company that made them, the rest are rebadged. I don't know what these go for, they seem rare/obsolete now days, shoot me a pm if you have one and can ship it.
Reply:You want DC weld output? I'd look for used AC/DC welder instead.
Reply:They are pretty easy to make. 4 150 amp diodes, and rewind a transformer core from an old microwave. You might want to add a filter capacitor, but it doesn't need to be too big.
Reply:Just wanted to say that forum user prizealot9 sent me the email address of some person with a DC converter for sale. It was an obvious scam, they used photos from an almost decade old internet auction. If anyone is offered welding equipment by a 'Tasha Holmes' in Grenada Mississippi, I would be careful. |
