Hi Guys,I recently bought a miller gen 3 headgear to update my ~12 year old miller digital elite. It's really comfortable but I can't get it to stay in the up position, it keeps falling down and driving me crazy. These dont work the same as the old ones, I have tried tightening the screws up and all that did for me was make it squeak, grrr!Does anyone know how to adjust the tension in the hood position mech? I can't see any adjustments on it .Thanks.

Reply:Oscar, I've got the headgear you posted a pic of and I'm having the same problem that Salem has. I've tightened it to the point i'm scared I might overdue it. Any suggestions?
Reply:I suggest taking it apart and investigating all the parts to see what makes it tick. Perhaps something was not installed correctly?

Reply:Oscar, per your advice I disassembled both sides, one at a time so I didn't get confused, didn't find anything off, reassembled each still a problem but not as bad, I'll use it a while and see, may contact Miller and ask about it also. Thanks,
Reply:I have the same problem with mine. It's my third, first two were not as bad but still drooped. I feel it's just a POS design. Not enough friction to hold up the hood with an auto darkening lens. But they are the most comfortable head gears out there. I have one on my Digital Elite and one on a modified Jackson hood. The Jackson is the go to hood, It fits the 3-M respirator better.
Reply:The old head gear is still available for purchase. At least it was a year ago. I didn't care for the new style so I ordered the old and swapped it out.
Reply:What I don't like about it is it takes 2 hands to put the hood on to get it situated. Old head gear just one hand and it's on.Thermal Arc 320SP ( Lorch )Cobra PythonsThermal Arc 300 AC/DC ( Sanrex )ESAB 301i AC/DC ( Lorch )Thermal Arc 161STL ( WTL )Thermal Arc 190S ( Sanrex )Cut Master 82, 42.
