Reply:You local high school should have literature on local trade schools and colleges. From there scope out the ones you areinterested in and if you can drop by the welding school classes. Often the instructors can give you an insight into what qualifications are valuable in your area. There are American Welding Society chapters around the country. If you contact a local executive member of the local chapter you should make some good contacts and receive good information
Reply:I've never welded before, but always had the call for it. I signed up at my local 2 year college this year and their certification starts from the ground up even though you've welded before. This first class has given me experience in SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), TIG (GTAW), OFC-A (oxyfuel). I didn't realize there were so many weld applications, and types of welds. There are a total of 13 classes not counting the general ed to graduate with an AA at the college I go to. I'm sure your two year college has a web site that links to their AA - Welding Technology. Certificates offered at my college are: Gas metal Arcl Plate and pipeGas Tungsten Arc Plate & Pipe WeldingMathematics & Blueprint InterpretationShielded Metal Arc Plate and PipeWelding Metallurgy and Inspection Always remember if you've welded before you should talk to a counsler to challenge the class, which means you can take a test to see if you can pass a certain class and go on to the next required class.
Reply:better still would be to research the local employers, find the ones that offer to pay for employee school and get them to hire you as anything. Then get them to pay for your tuition while you work and go to school.
Reply:if you want nice indoor work (clean) go and master tig...........if you want to be hanging of the side of a building master stick b- |
