Reply:For what purpose? What kind of plate? Just to hold it there on A36, LoHy is fine, run stitches along the foot. Avoid other rod types, at the weld will be quite brittle. Generally best to cleat it on of you can. If strength is required, or it is going to be run on by a train or equipment, then I will refer you to the AAR standards for welding rail, and to the AWS for preapproved procedures, or the the crane manufacturers association if it is for a crane or a lift. |
