So what is a frog foot weld??? I've heard this term used in conjunction with the repair and welding of railroad tracks.
Reply:well not sure what a frog foot weld is, but a frog if im not mistaken is a piece where the track splits. Ever had horses? well if you pick a horses hoof up, at the back of the foot theres a spongy fleshy piece. This is called the frog. What Ive been told is thats where they came up with the name for the frog on the railway because it looks about the same. Anyway, its a high wear zone and it had to get built up and I guess they hardface em. But ive never heard the term frog foot weld, just the frog and that they get welded, assuming its the same hting. But as far as I am aware this is a hard face oppurtunity. Good luckCHRIS |
