Have a couple questions about Flux Core Welder

I picked up a CH Auto strike wire feed welder today. I am getting ready to weld some exahsut tubing.Can I use this welder to weld the exahsut while its on the truck? I will be welding sideways and upside down...Any tricks I could use to keep it from running and dripping and the like? thanks!
Reply:Better get some practice in first.. Lots in fact. Stop by some muffler shop and pick up some cut-offs.

Reply:It took some practice, but I was able to weld 1/2" EMT with a Lincoln Weld-Pak 155 running flux core.      Make sure to not get greedy and try to make a 3" weld in one pass.    On thin material and flux core, it'll burn through every time.   Plan on making a lot of very short beads and connecting them together.BTW, I agree with Sandy.    Get some scrap tubing and practice first.The pic below is a garden arch made with 1/2" EMT welded together. Reply:BlackAs stated above practice.  Should drip or run, you'll have a large hole before that happens. As Imagineer stated connect short beads or spots.I'd suggest you do as much off the truck as possible.  Then after installing it on the truck make several practice runs with your mig gun.    I put a flat bed on my truck last rear.  While The bed was off I decided to replace the exhaust.  Even working from the top and bottom of the truck I still couldn't weld all the way around the pipe with my mig gun.Assuming you are not butting the tubing.  You might consider using an pipe expander for a closer fitting pipe and less gap to fill with your mig.  This is something to try in you have trouble bridging the gap on stock fittings.
