Lincwelder DC-250-MKI got a good deal on this ( I think ) but I can't get it fired up. I think it has been sitting for a long time. I hooked it up to 240V and it hums for a bit then it shuts its self off. Nothing inside is moving that I can tell. Any ideas?
Reply:That is normally a three phase machine. There are a few single phase models out there, but they are somewhat rare....Are you positive your phase is correct?

Reply:Mac702 or an electrician could tell you for sure. If you are running it at home, you are probably out of luck. Std residential is single phase. Three phase is commercial power. They do make rotary converters that will convert single to three phase. They should power one of those without affecting the arc too much, but then I am just guessing.They are very good welders. I ran one for a long time in the late 80's. I had the aircrafter model that went down to 10 amps and was also capable of a foot pedal set-up.
Reply:Thanks DDA52 I was trying to run it off house current. Since it says DC-250-MK I thought I could use 250V but from what you said and from some other threads on 3-Phase models I would need an expensive converter. "Any One want to buy an Industrial Welder?"Thanks for your help. Jerry
