Do any of you wear a cap, handkerchif or protective cloth under your helmet? I've noticed that since I've started to weld and wear the hood a lot that I'm getting blackheads or pimples on my head where the helmet band goes around. i assume its from the sweat buildup and dirt etc. I guess it also doesnt help that I have my hair really short.
Reply:No hat but I do use a sheepskin on the front of the band. Never (that I recall) had a problem like that.
Reply:I wear a welding cap. But its to keep my hair from burningor my head from getting burnt or more importantly so when I take my shower I dont have black waterIF it Catches...Let it Burn
Reply:Caps...they are more than a fashion statement...they are a way of life. I really like the Kromers.....just can't find any here lately.
Reply:Kromers?Wuzat? I got a bunch from a company called Rasco. The original batch were awesome. But lately the sizing hasnt been as good, but the material is somewhat better, just sizing aint been that great lol. Oh well they work good.IF it Catches...Let it Burn

Reply:Kromers are another brand. They have a hard brim, which I prefer. I have a Rasco now and it seems to get bigger everytime I wear it. The sweat may be stretching it a bit. May have to break out another new one.
Reply:Well im sure warshing them with hot water isnt helping lol. I ususally use nothing but cold but the switch kind got broke by my brother and I dont like getting a pair of pliers to move it lolIF it Catches...Let it Burn
Reply:Got to have a hat, you can't call yourself a welder without one. The trick is to keep them clean, as in a clean one every day I bought some off ebay that are ok, but not as good as a Kromer.StephenI'd rather be hunting........USE ENOUGH HEAT.......Drifting around Aussie welding more pipe up, for something different.....wanting to get home.
Reply:Found these on ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/HardHatGear_W...QQftidZ2QQtZkm
Reply:Yup, those are the ones. I am disappointed however....no green or red polkadots.....I gotta have a dot hat. Only have one now and it is too small. I got it from Airgas...a Nougie or something like that. Supposed to be a one size fits all, but do not believe it. And my head ain't that big.
Reply:i had one of them...wore it out or something lolIF it Catches...Let it Burn
Reply:i use a handkerchief most of the time, every color of the rainbow (including pink) and a canadian flag one. also have a cap too, but i dont find em and comfy underleath the mask and band
Reply:My local welding supply shop gives them out for free with a purchase, but they're the quilted type, really hot. Still I wear it to keep what's left of my hair from being pulled out by the headband. There are no small projects
