Just looking for a few ideas for drumming up some work .. A little background... I had many friends in the town I grew up in and plenty of business from word of mouth...since I knew so many people. Now, I have moved to a new town and have very little busines... just wanted to know of how maybe some of you have generated business... I missed the deadline for the Yellow Pages and now looking for another advertising / business generating vehicle to get a little work through the door. I have some decent equipment (Syncro 250, MM 251, Thermal Dynam. 51 plasma, etc...) And would like to get a little return on my investment Any ideas?I appreciate any and all ideas!!
Reply:bussiness cards, flyers,an add in local paper, maybe a portable sign the ones with flashing lights
Reply:The local paper would probably be one place to start.Ask yourself who are your clientele? Do you weld for businesses or is it for consumers? Once you decide on your target market, there's several ways to market to them. Fliers, direct mail, even showing up with a business card and pamphlet.Setting up a website with pics of your handiwork, then using the url in your marketing might help as well. There's radio and tv, but they can be pretty pricey. If you consider this route know the geographic area they cover, along with their demographics. They may not be what you want. I've personally avoided radio ads until recently, only because the stations here marketed to an area well beyond what I needed. (I own a health club.). People aren't going to drive 50miles to use my services. (Some new low-power local stations have appeared recently, so things have changed)In a nutshell, figure out who your market is, then decide the best way to market to them.my 2 bits.
Reply:Business cards and meeting people. I have several yellow page listings. Nothing beats the contacts I made face to face. Agains, cards thousand of cards. It is cheap and readily available when you driving around and see an opportunity.Save the yellow page type directories til you are better established. Those directories are not magic. If you are placed incorrectly or in much competition, then you may not get many calls.good luck
