Tig Welding learning CD

Reply:Nope, but I'm sure there are a few out there. For a few dollars more you could sign up for a vocational night course complete with a knowledgeable instructer and multiple hours of hands on practice. If you are really interested in learning Mig/Tig I would opt for the hands on course, look into your schools sytem's adult continuing education program.If you don't have the time to do it right, then you definitely don't have the time to do it over.
Reply:I guess your right but they only offer the course once a year and I'm going to have to wait until next year to take the course. I just want an idea on how to do it until then. Thanks, josh
Reply:You can rent that video for a week for $15 here - http://smartflix.com/index.php?main_...roducts_id=774 .  I'd never tig welded in my life (hadn't even seen someone else tig weld).  This video helped a ton with the technique, etc.  I also purchased Millers training manual which you can read online for free - http://www.millerwelds.com/education/TIGhandbook/ .  Between reading that entire book, watching the video, posting pics on the net for people to give me pointers when I was running into problems I'm doing pretty good.  I wouldn't buy the video for $100 but it's worth a $15 rental.
Reply:Yeah, Steve beat me to the punch.  I have rented several machining videos from smartflix.  Great to have a teacher, but the video is there when you have question with no teacher around.
Reply:Wow, is that Miller site a helluva resource or what? I forgot to ask you Josh, do you already have a machine, or access to one for practicing? That would be a big plus for you, having all this free info, plus the forum, plus access to a machine. You could definitely learn this process entirely "on your own" especially if you have a digital camera. You can post pics of your work right here; these guys love examining weld pics and giving advice on them. Let us know how you go!If you don't have the time to do it right, then you definitely don't have the time to do it over.
