i know im always asking questions but any way is there any difference in the precision and random wound wires?also i was wondering if you thought this welder would be any good for a hobbyist welder?http://www.weldwell.co.nz/products/m...ig/smig165.htmthanks very much
Reply:Since I am not familiar with the machine, I'll let the down under bunch handle that one....the wire ques, I'll start.Precision wound is just as it sounds. Every row of wire is neatly wound and perfectly in order. It will spool off very smoothly and will not give any feeding troubles. All the strands are tightly wound to the one next to it. They will be trouble free on just about any drive configuration. Random wound is just as it sounds as well. It would look like you had wound it on the spool by hand. Neatish, but with some crossing over and random strands here and there. These kind can, but not always, cause some feeding issues with small single or twin drive roll machines. Four rollers handle it with little trouble. The precision wound is the best by far. That is what I mainly use.
Reply:thanks for the wire questionbut just by looking at the specs do you reckon its any good?

Reply:Yup, what Sandy said.. It is difficult to tell from specs alone sometimes. There are plenty of machines that should work on paper, but in real life, they tank badly. It would be easy to tell with some arc time. But that would be difficult for us here.
Reply:true and thanks for the replies.it is a well known brand here in nz and the main branche is local for me being 10 mins. |
