I'm going to be doing some welding with 22 gauge sheet metal and some body work on my Fiat, and I've heard that ESAB's Easy Grind is the best wire for autobody use. When I tried to buy it locally, I got the same reaction as if I asked for chrome plated 3/16 flanged boxcar nipple prawns. Nobody ever heard of it. Airgas will happily sell me a 50 lb. spool of it, but I'd never use that much, and I won't do business with them again, anyway (charged me a Haz Mat fee on a 2lb roll of wire, I didn't notice until I got home.) I just need a 2 lb roll, but I'll even buy a 10 lb. if that's all I can find.Does anyone know where I can order it? I've searched, but with no luck. Thanks,Patrick

Reply:All the dealers in eastern Canada are charging the haz mat charge. This inlcludes Liquide Air, Praxair, & BOC. I was told that everyone was charging it.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:Louisville Welders Supply didn't even charge me Haz Mat for the bottle of C25 I bought today, and they told me that getting charged it for welding wire was the stupidest thing they've heard. They were over $10 cheaper than Airgas, too, for the refill. They got themselves a customer for a long time. But, they don't carry ESAB, and I've called everywhere else in town. |
