Jakes 1st Welds

Ok, I have a little boy that wants to be like dad. Always has actually. I look at myself and wonder why but I guess thats one of the joys of being a dad. LIke the old Joe Nichols song called, " The Impossible" starts off with describing dad chasing monsters from the dark, checking underneath my bed, he could lift me with one arm, way up over top his head. He could loosen rusty bolts with the quick turn of his wrench, he'd pull splinters from his hands, and never even flinch." Anyway I got a 110 welder that is a Chicago Electric and told him it belonged to him. Mig Gun was down on it for a couple weeks and finally got it in yesterday and got it hooked up. Layed down a few beads and then he was raring ready to go. I put on the auto helment for him, he has watched me for awhile now, but I held his hands and got through one bead, then let him try one himself as I stood right over his shoulder. He is 7 years old and can work most grown men I know under the table. He wanted me to take a couple pics and put them up here for you all to see, so here it is. Thanks guys. Reply:Very cool.  Its always nice to have the same interests and its always a good thing for the younger generation to know how to use their hands. Reply:Yes you are so right. Anything that he or my daughter do that is unbelievably good I always come forthright and let it be known that they have to take after my wife because if its that pretty, or that good, it doesn't come from me. That was quiet funny though Pulser. Had me a good chuckle when I read it. Had him back out welding today again. He was begging me as soon as he got home from school. He dearly loves it and it appears it loves him too as good as he is doing at any age let alone 7 years old. We stopped by the graffitti store and had some stickers made for it. He choose the OCC american chopper logo to put on one side of his blue welder and I choose his name " Jake" in nascar style wrote letters for the other side. He feel in love all over again, and so did I. Made me want to go get some to put on my Lincoln but don't want to mess up that Pretty Nascar Performance sticker on it. Whitey

Reply:The welds look good but do you think it wise to teach a 7 year-old to weld galvanized (zinc vapors) on top of carpeting (fire hazard)?Safety first!!!Sure, I can fix it... I got a welder!!!
