I have a miller 130 xp ,and a lincoln invertec 250 with option for tig, looking to repair some of my aluminum treestands.your talking verythin material ,1/16 or thinner. Most welds on treestands are tac welds or no more than one inch welds .I no aluminum welding is not easy ,and a lot of cleaning .Right now my 130 is set up with 035 flux wire , do i go with alum. wire and do i have to change the lining in my cable,or go tig ( dont have any accessarys for tig but the welder 250 invertec)or brazing rods for aluminum with map gas.whats the best way to go here? thanks
Reply:If your inveretec 250 has AC output, that would be the way to go.  A new linere in your mig may work.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Aluminum brazing rods are great for things that don't hold weight like patching a boat or irrigation pipe. I wouldn't fix a tree stand with them. I have to see where it broke and why but I might not repair it at all. If you have a part like that that is being overstressed and flexing and you welding it up it will probably crack right beside the weld. I might weld it if it's in a spot that a doubler of some kind be used.Last edited by tresi; 06-12-2007 at 10:55 PM.
