A weld joint by 2 different grade steel plates, and i wanna make 3 suits of Charpy-V impact sample from this joint, in fill metal, the fusion line ,and HAZ, the unsure thing is which side fusion line should i choose ? in the higher grade side or the lower grade side? i feel confusion, any help from you will be appreciate~
Reply:I would guess...(Oh great, another guess!), the lower grade side.Charpy -V, maybe you could breifly describe what that is.City of L.A. Structural; Manual & Semi-Automatic;"Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place where gold is refined. Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is smelted from ore."Job 28:1,2Lincoln, Miller, Victor & ISV BibleDanny
Reply:if your intent is to test the toughness of the final part, the you would want to perform impact testing on the weakest link. this would be the strongest (most brittle) base metal. also, if your going to be testing 3 areas, how much harder would it be to test the fourth? it never hurts to have too much info. |
