I have a Century welder. It is a Powr Mate 70. I have been trying it out and need some troublshooting. When I turn it on, The fan starts running but ever couple seconds it sounds like the power surges or pulses. It will be running and then all of a sudden it sounds like some of the power drops out as the fan and a buzzing sound seems drowned out with a lower sound buzz and then it switches and runs back to normal and within 2 seconds it sounds like the power drops down again and it repeats. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Help please. It is a Made in the USA model.
Reply:I don't know what is inside that machine, but maybe 2 things I can think of. A diode, or a run capacitor are showing age. Or, possibly lousy power supply, via a slightly loose terminal or connection somewhere from the breaker screws, to a wire nut, to a loose plug connection. You should put your location in your sig, so when you post up, maybe someone local to you will know a shop to refer you to. This can be for repairs, supplies, sales, good deals, etc.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return. |
