Spool Question

Ok, well, I've tried to get info and seem at a deadend.  I have the MM135 machine, and the actual wire spool mounting hole is pretty big in it, but it seems all the local places sell spools with SMALLER holes in them, the bigger ones being mostly for 10lb spools and such.  What is the deal, can i fit a smaller diameter hole on there somehow, so i don't have to spend 60.00 on a 10lb spool?Have a Jeep Cherokee?  Click Here!

Reply:I don't know if they're the same setup or not but my MM180 has a removable larger diameter sleeve which came with the unit.  The online owners manual for the MM135 reads just like my 180. It adapts between the 4" and 10" spools.  The adapter was included with mine.TimMiller Dynasty 200DX; MM180; Spectrum 625; Bobcat 3-Phase; and counting...

Reply:if you use much wire at all you will want to compare prices on the small rolls and the big rolls, around here pound for pound the 10 pound rolls are a bunch cheaper. plus you aint changing rolls a lot. the small rolls dont last very long.
Reply:Read the manual to see if it shows how to use a 4 inch spool in your machine. I have a millermatic 251 and the manual that came with it shows how to use a 4 inch spool by removing the large spindle and adding a small spring to the shaft that the large spool rides on. Yours might work the same way.
Reply:About the $60 a roll. The local True-valu sell a roll of ER-70-s for $29.95 that is a steel. The 33# rolls cost $155 here and $90 in the states. For the 1# rolls (spool gun wire) they get $4 to #5 a roll. I but 10# wire here if I run out between orders. Steel Thunder Welding LLC.
