The world's strongest carport will soon be finished.It's 7 metres long and the perimeter is 125mm channel on edge. The ends have a 45 degree mitre.When I got ordered the first side, they delivered it with the mitre cut the wrong way on each end, despite the fact that I gave them a drawing. So I had to recut it myself, which shortened it a bit, but that was okay.When I ordered the rest of the steel this week, I said I'm going to come down before you deliver it and make sure the mitres are right. They assured me that wasn't necessary, but I did anyway.It was wrong. They had cut the mitre right on both ends of one piece, but not on the other piece for some strange reason.Too late to get another length in, so I said cut the right mitre on one end and give me the off cut with the right mitre and I'll cut and join the bits.Amazingly, they delivered the steel and it was wrong again.All they had to do was copy what they did on the other piece.Now I know why their off cuts bin is always so full.

At least you have a welder and can splice the lengths back together, eh?When doing miters, I often either mark the direction of the angles onto the stock to ensure that I angle the cuts the right way, or make sure that I triple-check my angle directions. And I am also glad that I can splice the oops steel back together with a welder when I realize I should have checked the angle directions one more time before cutting!
