Nickle 99 Tig Rod..

Went to the L.W.S. today..Inquired about some N99.."Sold by the pound..5 pound minimum @ 99$ per POUND"???????No mistake  They called the head office to confirm and then called me back..Well I did'nt get any and don't know if I will now either..Anyone else price this stuff lately????...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Don't feel bad Zap - I was at my LWS today swapping an argon bottle and got a price from them on the "tig-tectic 680" my customer requested for a small batch of parts.  It was $41.00 per pound in 11lb tubes!  Yikes!  I had already gotten the customer to give me some of his supply...I knew Ni99 was getting up there.  All of it that I've gotten over the years were little samples from the LWS rep.  Usually would give me about 10 rods for free if I didn't ask for them often.I am not much of a stick welder, so as an expirament I broke all the flux off them and cleaned then with scotchbrite.  I then used them as tig filler.  Worked well, but I think they worked better as electrodes.
Reply:Looked at them again......3/32 pack of 10 for $7 at NT.....the rods at ASC are 1/8 I know for sure and were labeled as Ni99....the Ni55's were about $35.

Reply:The last pound of Ni99 was $26  A few months ago from my LWS.  I think I paid 20 at TSC about 6 months ago.  I'll have to stop there.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Stopped at TSC yesterday.  I paid $10.65 for a half pound (10 sticks) of Hobart 3/32 Ni99.   They had 2 pkgs, I bought both.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
