I have a job to do for a local company. Theu have wrought iron surrounding the outside of their building, and they want one section to me removable. the section is only 8 foot long, so it could be easily moved. How would you suggest on making nthe brackets?
Reply:need some pics to be of any help but nuts and bolts to make removableor some type of slider
Reply:You could also attach studs to the building and fix the panel with cotter pins.
Reply:Hey lingarner,The simplest method is to remove the section indicated by the company, weld (2) 2"L X 1" OD tube w/1/2" hole ID on each of the fixed sections, one near the top, the other near the bottom. Then weld (2) 1/2" inverted "L" pins to the removable section on each side located parallel to the tubes. Then you just have to lift the section out when needed & drop it back in place when done. Just an idea..... DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. ShopMobile UnitFinally retired*Moderator*"A man's word is his honor...without honor there is nothing.""Words are like bullets.... Reply:Be careful lingarner,I know nothing of American codes but in Australia a removable panel can compromise the legitimacy of the balustrading. It can make the balustrading "temporary" under the definition of the building code. Gates are not temporary. A gate can swing down flat on the ground , not necessarily hinged on the side .Is it commercial or domestic? Is it rarely or often used? What are they trying to get in?Over here some gates must be self closing and latching. some are not allowed to open out in which case a slider may be appropriate. (and then some gates are not allowed to open in ....)Not trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill , just some things to be aware of .A good guess is better than a bad measurement
Reply:ornamental iron is my specialty send be a pic or a rough scetch and i can help you more on the removable section |
