Hobart 6013????????

Any of you guys run any Hobart 6013's?  I normally use Lincoln's fleetweld 37, but my supplier was out and sent me Hobart.  I used some of them this morning and they burn way different than other 6013's i've run.  They almost seem to burn like a cross between a 6013 and a 6011.  Definitely a harsher arc than I am use to.  Also the slag look closer to a 6011 than the lincoln's rods.  It's not as solid and smooth as others have been.  I was just curious if this is normal for hobart's 6013 or do I have a bad box.  I'm definitely considering sending them back.  Keep in mind these are Hobart not Hobart brothers.  Thanks for your opinions.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:I buy mine at tractor supply.  It says Hobart on it, I never knew there was a differnce.  I don't  use much.  Right now TSC has 50 lbs 6013 1/8 or 5/32' for $41.00 .  It would take me forever to use it up.  Usually its $20 for 10 lbs.  No filler metal surcharge.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Dang i didn't know they had them that cheap, David.  I think I have a bad box, as they just aren't burning right.    But $41.00 a box is ALOT cheaper than I pay thru my supplier.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:84zmike, i've run them on both polarities as well as AC all with the same results.  They said they were out, and while I was upfront talking one of the stock boys showed up with them and said they found a box.  It probably had been back there for 20 years or something as I've never gotten any hobart rods from them in the past.  That would be my luck anyway.  next time I'll just stick with the Lincoln or Murex  and just wait until I can get them.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:I recently picked up a spool of Hobart solid MIG wire ER70S-6, and it burns totally different that my previous Generic brand spool of the same alloy. Reply:Jackson,The sticks you were using at the welding get-together last month were all hobart...some were 6011, some were 6013.  They were at least a year old, maybe three.  I bet you got a bad batch.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
