[general ?] schedule 40, 80 pipe?

been learning how to weld pipe roots with tig and its pretty fun, i enjoy itbut i was wondering, i know pipe is schedule 40 or 80, but why is it called this? diameter ? thickness?anyway, was just hoping someone could post a link to a website or maybe explain it a littleThanks very much in advance and very much appreciatedYes, i own a FREE Porn site
Reply:The sch # increases as the wall thickness of the pipe increases.

Kind of like shorthand.3" Schedule 40 pipe (for instance) means the same to supplers, draftsmen, engineers, welders, manufacturers, suppliers etc. Hope that helped.Later,Jason
