Well I finally got my *** to Houston to visit The Ocean Corp. I must say as a dive school it is superb, although I have no basis to compare they do not mess around when it comes to diving. Even thought the school was nice that is not the way I want to go with my career and my life. It would be awesome to be a diver and say that I had struck an arc underwater I dont think I want to be a diver. I must say it was an odd coincidence that I received a phone call from the Penn State College of Technology admissions office a week before my trip to houston letting me know that I had been accepted to the weld engineering program! I have been on the waiting list for awhile now and did not think it was going to get in and had put it into the back of my mind. So imagine my excitement when it finally happened. I am very much looking forward to starting in August, as a sophomore I might add. I did have to turn down a chairmanship of the local AWS section, which kind of sucked but I have wanted to go to school for awhile. I do not want to be behind the mask for the rest of my life and this program will do that for me.
Reply:Glad to hear you got out to Houston to visit The Ocean Corp. I wondered if you had managed to get there. Congrats on being accepted to Penn State. I think in the long run you'll be happier if you enjoy welding going to Penn State. shouldn't have to much of a problem finding an AWS chapter out there. I know my Tig instructer is a chairman at the chapter in Easton PA.Good luck and keep us posted on what you are doing. |
