Hello Everyone...I need advise again. I have an old Wards Powr-Kraft 230 arc welder with a TIG setup as well. It works GREAT! The problem is that I would like to up grade the torch to something a little newer. Specifically with a gas valve on the torch and may be even getting a water cooled one while I'm at it. I don't know who the original manufacturer is and I doubt they would even be in buisness now. The local WESCO prodominatly sells Millers. CAN I UP GRADE OR AM I STUCK WITH IT THE WAY IT IS???????
Reply:If it has standardized fittings, you might be able to change it. Can you un-screw the torch leads. Take a picture of what you have and post it.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I'll take a look at it and see if I can disassemble it. I'll try and get some pics too. Thanks
Reply:It is probably a "1 piece torch" I am guessing, it uses one of these torch adapters:http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._2006_18301272So the torch threads into one side, the gas hose threads into the other side, and the power lead is bolted to the "eyelet" on the side. It is easy enough to change a torch on this type of system, you just might need a different adapter. |
