There are all done in verticle up and overhead. This is also the first time I have ever done these. I have about 20 hours TIG experience prior to these. These were done on 1/4'' mild steel. 3/32 2%Thoriated Tungsten. approx 135-150 amps. 3/32 filler rod.I'll break the pictures down shortly. Giving a description of which welds are in which postion.*PLEASE NOTE: i BARELY DID ANY CLEANING OR PREPARATIONS AS i WAS IN A HURRY AND ALL WELDS WERE DONE IN ABOUT 30 MINS OR SO!!!I was just fartin around and needed to whip something together small enough to take home to take pics. *ALL PICS TAKEN WITH A NIKON D80 (photography is another passion of mine)Last edited by driftstar; 05-18-2008 at 10:07 PM.

Reply:Well, so much for tig being hard to learn....... Those look pretty good. Puddle spacing, fill look good, edges look for the most part well wetted in. Maybe a little on the cold side, but to see the penetration, you'd have to cut it in half. Nice job.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:^Thank you.Welding is my calling I guess you could say. It took me about 5 hours to get into MIG welding and pass the CWB for flat and horizontal. I pick up welding really quick.I had a felling they were a little cold. I will see if I can get some of them cut on Tuesday. Can anyone offer me some tips on different techniques?Oh yeah. My Tungsten had a 1/4'' taper and the stick out was a 1/4''.I was using a Thermalarc 250 or something like that. I'm not to fond of this machine I must admit.
Reply:First time my a$$ Did you wire brush that after welding it?If that is your first time good job, if that is not your first time that is still a good job. Me!
Reply:No joke. That was seriously my first time.I gave it a quick wire brush. I mean quick.I learn quicly and I pay attention when I'm being taught some or when someone gives me advice and insight.
Reply:Pulse on a Tig welder is the best thing ever made.

Reply:Those look real good.A couple of them do look a like the penetration may not be complete like Rojodiablo mentioned.Overall though, very good. The Welder Shop has great deals and reviews on Hobart, Miller and Lincoln Welders.
Reply:Technique and speed look very good.  Welds are a little cold, increase amperage to 160/180.  Try using a 30 degree included angle on your tungsten, and don't forget to spot the tip. You've got the mojo.....I r 2 a perfessional
Reply:As a teacher...the best part aboutyour welds is the fact that there is LITTLE TO NO undercut!!!  Keep up the good work!!!Jonesy
Reply:Thanks guys!I'll try getting some updated pieces soon.
Reply:finally, someone who knows how to use their camera - nice pics and nice welds!Fire!, Fire! Oh wait, that's my torch...Lincoln PT-225 TIGLincoln 175 MIG
Reply:Sorry that it's been so long. Life has kept me busy lately.Vipernut. Thanks. I have a little photography thing on the side that I do for fun. I'm using a Nikon D80.
