I found this on youtube today and thought wow thats amazing for its size. Does anyone know anything about this. Also notice he doesn't have any eye protection.[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAplLEjTriE&NR=1[/ame]
Reply:Don't know about them but IMHO anyone that does that kind of s**t with a machine capable of welding (if it's ot some sort of set up) is not long for this world.Natural selection atit's best.....Mike
Reply:I cannot view your YOUTUBE whatever. Some of us cannot afford the newest computers. No shockwave/8 FLASH .Can we just have a JPG please. Then more people can respond to your questions.

Reply:Originally Posted by 737mechanicThis is the best I can do as it is just a screnshot of the video. basically it is a small box and the guy is showing how it works. Apperanly this is in the Philippines.  Oh and flash has been around for over 10 years now so you don't need the newest computer to view it just a computer about 10 years old or newer. You could probably find one someone is throwing out on the side of the curb and that should view it fine.  Flash is a free download if you need it you can get it here. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Reply:From what I can figure out these "pocketsize welder" things are a rehash of the old resistor welders. My guess is that the little box thing is just a big resistor, possibly filled with a liquid to be a true "water resistor."It took a while to find but if you look on the inventors website it says that the mains circuit that you run this thing off of needs to be rated or fused at 100 amps (even if you run it off 110V). It also says that the workpiece has to be grounded. While many here refer to the work lead connection on the welding machine as "ground," it is not really the same as earth ground. This machine requires the workpiece to be connected to an earth ground. This means that the welding circuit is not isolated from the mains power circuit as is the case in a transformer or inverter machine. This is probably just a case of someone reinventing old, obsolete technology.Visit Tensaiteki.com

Reply:Wow you learn something every day.My friends in the the military tell me stories of intuitive devices as this in third world countries.  I want to say some kind of electrolosis (sp) contraption can be used for welding and not just for cutting is what I was told from a witness. weld it like you own it
Reply:Easily can be upto 100A. Looks like #6 or #8 wire. With proper insulation (like Teflon) can go to very hi temp. And of course working piece must somehow connected to second pole of the power source - NOT necessarily earth grounded. But I do not see any current/voltage ajusments - so must be for specific applications.Similar to that I've seen homemade welders made from microvawe capacitors running from 12V battery.
Reply:Thanks for the screen shot of the welding device.I have a Macintosh with OS8.6 believe it or not.All of my programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Pagemaker,Dreamweaver etc., work perfect.I see no reason to spend a few thousand dollars on a new computer just to watch YOU TUBE video's of jackasses OR jumping monkeys on mortgage ads.I do not know why people think that an image or words have to spin around etc.,.It just makes it hard to focus. My wife is a school teacher and 2 graders are haveing many learning problems because they cannot focus on anyAWS certified welding inspectorAWS certified welder
Reply:Just for educational purposes, and getting away from the video/pictures, is there anybody who can explain exactly what a resistance type welder is????   I know what a transformer machine is, I know what an inverter machine is, what's a resistance machine?  and what are the pros/cons of using one??????  And why is this not as common as transformers and inverters???????

Reply:This looks like a GREAT WELDER!  Apparently you don't even need to use a helmet with it!  (hehe)"A winner isn't someone who doesn't lose, a winner is someone who doesn't quit."
Reply:This is the original invention(inventor) I think? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjPpQKkvjQU&feature=related[/ame]You have to get past the HSN portion in the video..
Reply:It's funny listening to other languages - they have words for EVERYTHING in their own language *except* "welding machine", "for distribution", "every year", etc..I'm almost ready to buy one just so I can take it apart and see what's in it."A winner isn't someone who doesn't lose, a winner is someone who doesn't quit."

Reply:Did a little research...it doesn't look to safe to me, there is not plug just bare wires.it cost 3000 pesos..here is another vid[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgAThGrCV4A&feature=related[/ame]WORLDS SMALLEST AND POWERFUL WELDING MACHINE A  pocketsize and powerful welding machine, breakthrough innovation of Filipino ingenuity. We are now marketing this innovative product around the world. Fast moving and very saleable for its affordability and compactness. Very durable and heavy duty Size: 1.8 x   8.5 x 1.8 inches   Weight:  2 poundsDuty cycle is 100% the machine can withstand long hours of operation without overheating. Voltage is  110 * 220 * 240 * 440 auto volt. Cycle: 60~50 Hz  Welding Capacity: 200 - 500 amperes Warranty: 0ne (1) year. Machine has been tested and has passed strict quality control prior to distribution. It is very safe and will not cause any electrical shock. You can carry this machine anywhere you like, even in your handbag. This will make the big welding machines obsolete and would take industrial sectors by storm.Last edited by mnm4l1f3; 07-14-2008 at 10:13 PM.
Reply:That's nuts!
Reply:Good lord, I think someone just threw some chlorine into the shallow end of the gene pool.  Won't take long for natural selection to wipe those guys out.......I r 2 a perfessional
Reply:This is listed on ebay.com.au item #220259432367  that's Australia ebay for around $109 Australian. The reason I say this is it has a schematic of how the welder is hooked up to ground in the description..... strange little contraption for sure. I doubt it will get listed for sale in the US after I saw how it is connected to power in the videos....I'm surprised it got listed in Australia....It'd be interesting to see how well it actually works though...other than the videos posted everywhere. All I can figure is,it must work somewhat or they wouldn't be producing/selling them.Scary little sucker to be sure....
Reply:So...how many of you welders carry a "handbag?"  Wouldn't you be proud to carry that in your purse?
