Can someone give me some instructions on building a parts cleaner from a 55 gal. drum. I will be using a used stainless steel sink.I already have a submersible pump. I need to know how & what to do from here such as how to hook lines up & pump. Any help would be appreciated.
Reply:What are you using as a solvent? Is the pump ok with that? Just asking
Reply:using mineral spirits & the pump should be ok with the solvent
Reply:OK in what way? The solvent may not affect the inards of the pump, but I believe you want a pump that is safe with a flammable liquid.AKA intrinsically rated not to spark and explode. Reply:I will have to say good advice is always helpfull & will prevent an accident. The motor i was going to use would have sparked because of the brushes.I pluged motor up & sure enough it had sparks.the spark had not even crossed my mind. thanks alot for your advice. thanks---mccoy
Reply:http://w6rec.com/duane/bmw/washer/index.htmHere is you a homemade washer with some instructions that seems to fit what you are trying to accomplish...I am not sure about his particular pump, but I know that Little Giant makes quite a few pumps intended for use in flammable stuff.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'. |
