Hey guys, I just recently started at the local community college for Welding. We started with simply running beads on 5x5 plates of steel, then I moved on to butt welds on 2x6 plates, then on to lap-joint welds and triple pass lap joint welds, now I am on the Triple Pass T-Joint weld. I will have to post some pictures tomorrow on what I have done tomorrow, but my problem is my first two beads are dead on, but my third bead doesn't tie into my second bead as good as it should. I am using a Miller Shopmaster 300 AC/DC machine, with 6010 rods, also 1/2" steel plates.
Reply:try overlapping ur beads meaning: run ur first bead as normal overlap the edge of the second bead to the middle of ur first bead, and so on n on n on with ur other beads. this is how we were supposed to do it! good luck n hope it helps! |
