Reply:I have experienced porosity like that when my shielding gas was blown away by wind.  Flux cored wire can have the same problem.  Attempt to weld in a breeze free environment.
Reply:Looks more like loss of shielding gas. I have not seen wrong polarity cause this problem, mostly just no penetration.
Reply:I have tried welding on a diffrent pice and it worked fine so i cleaned up the part shown and tried again. same thing happen agian. tried regular wire and it work fine. just trying to figure it out
Reply:A long shot this one, but your pipe or plate may be from a bad batch.  I have seen this before in a batch of steel that contained oxide inclusions.  Not pretty.
Reply:Maybe u baught dual shield wire and you had thought u were using self shielding flux core? could happen!Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:Look here at the bottom of this post, there are pics I posted with a similar problem,,,good luck.  http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=21393
Reply:WPS or actually the base metal may have some kind of contaminates..  I have to turn my wire speed way down when I use it.  But like you said you tried on another piece..Thats a tuff oneThat looks it it might not be mild steel.. cant really tell by the pics weld it like you own it
Reply:I had a similar problem when the gun cable pulled out a little using gas, but never with fluxcore. Good luck and if you figure it out, let us all know.Miller 140 w A/SHF Flux Core WelderDewalt Chop SawSmith O/A TorchHarley Electra Glide Classic

Reply:Didn't accidentally mistake a roll of solid core for flux core did you?  It happens.Near a fan or some other object blowing down the tube?  It looks like air may have been coming up through the weld from the bottom.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:The front right upward tube appears to have spatter or corrosion on its surface, even though it's facing away from the weld. What is the base metal and is it corroded or heavily plated? Is it magnetic? The bluish haze near the weld could indicate zinc, although It doesn't really appear to be from the fumes.

Reply:Originally Posted by Go1lumI don't see how having bad grounding can cause porosity like that. You might have had a positive pressure in that tube or something. ( like to high of a purge.)
Reply:Originally Posted by Joscerb55iv experienced having a bad ground causing porosity. something to do with the magnetic waves thus causing arc blow thus causing porosity. I forget what exactly the reason was with the magnetic waves.
