We manufacture replacement parts for the textile industry. We have the welders to do heavy welding but now we are looking to get a welder for welding .030-.1250. Not looking at price which mig welder would best suit our application? We are looking at Lincoln, Miller, Hobart, Gas or flux cored, 110 or 220? Material will be steel and some stainless. This machine would have to a decent duty cycle because it may be run for extended periods of time. Would like someone with more fabricating knowledge than myself to point me in the right direction. thank you in advance, Shannon
Reply:I do a fair bit of welding on sheet steel down to about 24 gauge, MIG with gas works quite well. you likely want to go to a 220volt unit just for capacity durability and flexibility, some 120 volt welders are getting pretty maxed out at 1/8 inch and duity cycle would be suffering.Lincoln PT185 TIGLincoln 175 MIGLincoln 240 amp AC StickLind Needle Arc plasma welderPlasma cutter, soon???
Reply:Thank you that is what we were thinking but we do more heavy duty type welding and are starting to have to do more thin stuff. we have a Lincoln Electric IdealArc R3S-325, and a square wave tig 175 pro. Any preference on Lincoln mig 180c or miller 180 with auto set. or is auto set just an expensive gimmick?
Reply:I got to run an auto set machine at the AWS welding show in Vegas. Definitely not a gimmick. Pretty soon these things will be preparing lunch for us.Regards, KbnitI r 2 a perfessional |
