Hi, Everyone, I'v been pleased with my Lincoln PC-40 plasma cutter (40 amps) and only used it at a max of 3/8" rarely. I was on the phone to a welding supply company a while ago and the guy said that thickness a plasma can cut is a lot dependant on which torch you use, And that my lincoln would cut thicker section with a different torch. Can anybody tell me if this is correct and explain why please.P.S. torch is a standard Lincoln with a nozzle size of 1mm. Cheers GordonLast edited by gordon stephenson; 11-13-2008 at 01:30 PM.

Reply:Well Gordo I don't know about the torch making it cut thicker material or not. But I've been watching this thread to see what kind of answers you get as well. Reply:I do not know if Hypotherm has a torch that could be substituted. From what I gathered, the Lincoln parts were proprietary in nature. I know the Miller units are made by Hypotherm, and many will change out those torches. They do it because the cost and availability of the Miller parts is not what they desire.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return. |
