Just looking for some information. I moved to Ontario with my family from Calgary Alberta during high school and since have become a registered apprentice in Ontario as a platefitter/fabricator. I now want to move back to Alberta but I want to get some information about transfering my apprenticeship, if it is even possible, I know my trade is registed as a red seal trade in both provinces but can I transfer to Alberta and still maintain my same level of apprenticeship as i have gained in ontario? If so, how might I go about it?
Reply:If its a red seal program i would imagine that you would be able to transfer it, however the best way to find out is to call check out there website.http://http://www.tradesecrets.gov.ab.ca/http://http://www.advancededucation.gov.ab.ca/appren/Markyou may also want to check out http://http://www.red-seal.ca/Site/index_e.shtmlLast edited by becanadianplaylax; 11-27-2008 at 06:24 PM.
Reply:Don't you have a Union Hall you could talk to? I think they should have the answer. If your an apprentice don't you have classes you have to attend some time. The Piledrivers Hall here just called in 3 apprentices to take classes for a month. I never went though an apprenticeship but would be a little upset if I got yanked off a scale job to attend class when the job ends in a month anyway. Who knows when these guys will get back into the field. |
