Buddy was over on the weekend to use some wood shop equipment. Just before he was leaving mentioned he needed a wing nut for a clamping jig. So I said, no problem just take a miniute to weld a bolt onto a nut.Turned on the gas grabbed a short left over stub SS filler rod and went at it, it was welding all wierd, so stopped, checked gas, then reground electrode, checked settings, went back at it and it was still not right, so to save face said someting must be up with the welder and told him I would do the part up later as he was in a rush to get going. Then last night I needed to do a quick weld and picked up the same section of filler, seamed a little light.... Stupid aluminium filler!Lincoln PT185 TIGLincoln 175 MIGLincoln 240 amp AC StickLind Needle Arc plasma welderPlasma cutter, soon???
Reply:Done that only backwards! Guy I used to work for kept his SS and Al fillers right next to each other. Once you try to weld aluminum with SS, there's no saving it!
