Welding NOOB need opinions

Hello guys i'm new here.  I own a 55 Cadillac Fleetwood series sixty.  It has plenty of "cancer" i'm trying to get rid of.  I have went throught the process of grinding out the rust and cutting it out as well.  I'm using 18 gauge steel to make replacement panels for what I cut out.  I rented a welder from Home depot a Lincoln Weldpac 100 Mig.  I haven't welded much maybe 5 times in my entire life.  Here is the what I did today.  I would like your honest opinions please
Reply:Can't see the welds good enough to give an opinion on them. Turn the power to (A) and the wire speed to (2.5) and weld like an inch at a time, moving around so as to let the heat dissipate from the welded area. Reply:Use lots of short tack welds, there won't be many spots where you can run longer than 1/2". Like STwelder says, jump around a lot; similar to the star pattern you're supposed to use when tightening a wheel on your vehicle.I saw this on another site (below) and remembered your post. "On the practical side.....For weld repairs on metal that will be painted, MIG is easier to work with than flux-core. Auto repair web sites http://www.streetrodderweb.com/tech/...ods/index.html note that after flux core welding auto body panels it is necessary to thoroughly clean the welds before grinding to remove any contaminants that may adversely affect adhesion of body filler and/or primer.
