I use my stoody spray torch all the time. I am tired of spending the money on the powder. Is there any company that sells the powder that is equal to stoody but a little cheaper. The reason i ask is i have a company that wants me to spray torch auger flighting. I know what you must be thinking, but this is what the company wants. I have hard surface wire welded these augers and they worked great, but they want to see a smoother finish. That company came into my shop when i was spraying some blades and was wondering if i could do their augers like that. The cost and time is going to be crazy
Reply:We have one of those spray systems at the shop also..I'll see tomorrow what kind and where the powder comes from and a price.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Castolin/Eutectic makes a large number of different spray powders too. They probably cost just as much though due to the ingredients and high specifications, at least for the hard-surfacing types. I have a friend who has done smaller jobs rebuilding journals of antique engine cranks, and think he may have used one of their powders. MG used to make spray powders a few decades ago, but probably do not any longer.

Reply:Originally Posted by DSWAs far as I know, MG still carries the spray on materials. I was looking at the system last spring when the MG rep was demonstrating at the LWS. Not sure if they make it or just carry it. Then again the rep may have been reping for more than one company, I've seen that before.
