I have Thunderbolt AC/DC Welder and confused over making the cable connections for the electrode holder and what I am calling ground (may be the wrong terminology). Looking at my user manual (believe it or not) on page 12 of my manual, it shows a pic of the electrode holder in the dc + and the grd in the dc - position. There is plug in just to the left of those two plugs that says work receptacle. My question is when welding dc on this machine, do you use just the plugs that say dc+ and dc- and the plug that says work receptacle is not used?  Does that make sense at all? jt
Reply:Is this your manual?http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o316g_mil.pdfIf so then you use the DC+/- conections when welding DC. You swap the leads to change from EP or EN.The work recept. is for AC use and you hook the "ground" clamp there. The other 2 plugs set the AC high or low range.
Reply:Yes that is the correct manual and I was just about to add this post. I "re-read" the connection or operator controls on page 10 of the manual and confirms what you implied. I had everything back a## ered. May work better when hook up right. Had the electrode holder in the work and the work in + . Oh well, gotta start somewhere. Thanks for the reply. jt
