Can you use TIG rods for Oxy-Acetylene welding aluminum?

I vaugley recall hearing once that you can. If you use appropriate Oxy-Ace welding flux on the rods, any reason you can't do this?What are the differences between TIG and Gas rods, anyway?"To tell which polarity to use go to the bathroom and pour some water down the drain. If it runs clockwise use straight polarity. If it runs counter-clockwise use reverse polarity. Or if it just gurgles use alternating current." -RandomDave
Reply:Not a problem.  You may want to remove the oxide layer from the rod before using it with O/A.
Reply:What the %$^ do you think "Tig" rod is? It's nothing more than the original O/A filler materials that have been made for the last 80 years ( more or less depending on the alloy ). There are NO special OA welding filler rods, anything sold as such is some form of brazing, soldering, or who knows what.
