Hello everyone,        I have a question about a miller dailarc 250ac/dc. I have an opportunity to buy one from my welding teacher for $500 with a air cooled scratch tig and 75' each of stick lead and ground lead. It has a 3prong remote connection on the front and a remote amp control for stick. The welder works great, Ive used it for both stick and tig. My queastion is could I get a foot pedal, water cooler, and HF unit to extend the tig capabilities? OR instead of a foot pedal could I get a torch mounted on/off amp remote?       I was also wondering if there was any way I could use this power source for mig welding or fluxcored by adding a wirefeeder.            Another thing is how do all you guys plug this equipment in at home when most homes only have 100amp service panels?  Well, at least mine does. This machine is set up to run on 230v and at max will draw 95amps.......how can I plug this in at home without getting another 100amp service installed?      Thanks, I hope someone can answer all these questions before someone else buys this machine......it sounds like a great deal even though the machine is from the 80's
Reply:That's the problem with some deals- not much of a deal if ya don't have the power to run it.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge

Reply:What about a 50 amp circuit with a NEMA 6-50 receptical?   Most of the time your using the welder at the lower setting around or under 150 amps.  You might be able to crank it up for short welds before the breaker trips.   Miller might have a power facor correction kit avilable for this welder.  This will get you closer to a 50 amp circuit for this size machine. That machine is a good welder, and wise not to pass up...BTW: Recepticals larger the 50 amps get real expensive.Last edited by Billdacat; 04-16-2009 at 01:44 PM.
