I would think that with all the manufacturing industry problems related to the economy that we're having in both the United States and Canada, there would be a lot of used welders for sale.Perhaps I'm dreaming.I've been watching for fairly new Lincoln or Miller TIG welders (Syncrowave 250, Precision TIG 225, are high on my list), preferably in Canada, but they seem to be few and far between.I've watched local auctions here in the Toronto area, but no such luck.I notice that the ones that do come up for sale seem to be priced quite high. There are some good deals lately on new machines, so I am checking those out too, not sure if it's worth taking a chance on a used machine with the prices seemingly so high.Any advice would be appreciated.Regards to all.Working on cars and bikes is my hobby, learning to weld the pieces together is my quest.
Reply:This Square Wave 255 has been on Ebay for a while (search item# 280195769717), the seller may be up for some wheelin' n dealin' . Is Stony Creek near Toronto? It might be worth checking out. I have a SW255, which I bought used a couple of years ago, and it's a great machine.Rex

Reply:Don't feel so bad, I haven't seen much either. Seems everyone going out of business is trying to recoup all of their losses in the prices of the equipment they're trying to unload. Same goes with racecars...
Reply:>>Same goes with racecars<<I hear you Supe, that's my interest, I generally go on RacingJunk.com to keep an eye on how prices are going (not sure how many actually sell though). Some cars seem like a good deal, some make you think the owner is dreaming big time, guess the proof is in making a sale or not.Regards to all.Working on cars and bikes is my hobby, learning to weld the pieces together is my quest.

Reply:I think welding equipment holds it's value pretty well. The determining factor seems to be the "new price", which is pretty doggone high to begin with. I don't know how guys make it when they buy new, but on the other hand, if it's new it's generally trouble free. It's rough"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/ |
