Hey all,My name is Jim.  I have been lurking here and searching for a couple of days.  I just purchased a Miller Dynasty 200 DX and plan to start welding with aluminum and whatever else I should need to.   I have used a MIG before but for the most part I am a complete virgin to the TIG game.  I will be using the machine primarily for aluminum fabrication of racing engine manifolds/headers/parts soon as I am good enough with it.  This is a great board from what I can tell.  I was able to answer most of my questions with SEARCH.  Here is what I have on the way to the shop;5 lbAluminum rod 4043  3/321 lbSteel rod1 lbStainless rod1XL goatskin welding gloves1Helmet auto darken1Miller Dynasty 200DX #9070990111Large Miller welding cart (for the bigger machines) #042934 Double as a bench.1250 A Water-Cooled Torch Kit #3001851Foot pedal  #1947441Miller Coolmate 3 #0430073gal.TIG coolantGot it all shipped to the door for $3500.  My estimates put this kit at $6000 retail.  Of course the machine is a factory refurb, but I got two years of full warranty so who cares.  They threw in the water hose.  Am I missing anything important I haven’t thought of?  What do you think?  I have Argon gas already at the shop and the torch kit comes with;Weldcraft WP2025RM, Torch cable cover, AK4C torch accessory kit (shielding cups, collets, collet bodies, and 2% cerium tungsten electrodes, 1/16, 3/32, and 1/8), Smith regulator HM2051A-580, 12ft. gas hose, water-cooled Dinse torch adapter, 15ft. 1/0 weld lead with clamp and Dinse connector. All comments welcome!  Cant wait to start ruining some aluminum!!!!!  Wait, thats not the idea! Thanks for the help and advice in advance, Jim  Last edited by jproy; 04-28-2009 at 07:13 PM.

Reply:They messed up.  You have to correct this my sending it to me.   NOW....................LOLWelcome to the board.  But have to say  wrong way to start.  1st post and you already got a " You Suck"Congrats you got a great deal.
Reply:Good job,  I would only suggest you check to see if the Dynasty has the Blue-Lightning firmware?  If not you are missing out on quite an impovement. (Serial number will confirm it on the Millerwelds.com site.)If Craig from Denver sees this thread you will most certainly get a "second-YOU SUCK"!!Good choice on going with the WCT starting off, if your intentions are to run aluminum as you will be using all the Dynasty has for much over 1/8".I am new to Tig welding as well and have the same setup (different model Cooler/torch) but I am very happy with the Blue inverter. This Site and the Miller Site is an excellent source of expertice as to tig welding.  Miller has a very good resource library for all processes, as well Lincoln Arc welding Handbook as a whole lot of info.Like yourself I have over 30 years of "Welding experiece" and yet this process will either make you humble or keep you there!!  Best of success to you!TimA rich man is not the one who has the most but instead one who needs theleast. Reply:Broccoli,Good thread to point to,  I was hoping I would not have to explain (a lot of what I haven't even used yet)  still using the Default parameters on the new Dynasty! (almost ready to start to play)  I have some real thin SS fusion welds to make on my workbench edge and was going to try changing the default start parameters for 1/16" TU.TimA rich man is not the one who has the most but instead one who needs theleast. Reply:Thanks for the warm welcome,  Thanks for the advice.  Anyone know when the Bluelightning board became standard equip?  I would like to know this info.  Is it something I can upgrade?  Should I if mine is not equiped? My unit is a 2008 model from a welding school.  It has been "Miller factory refurbished".  Not sure exactly what that means.  I will look into the matter.  Thanks again, Jim
Reply:Not upgradeable. You can contact Miller regarding iffin' yers is a new unit. Some one on Miller posted that serial numbers past lj280222l are the new ones.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
