Has anyone here welded directly to a truck frame? Specifically, I have a 95 Nissan Hardbody that I would like to weld some extra support to the rear section of the frame.I remember someone telling me that all newer truck frames are heat treated, and will crack somewhere in the heat affected zone if welded. I'm sure he was referring to a Ford, but I'm not sure if he's talking from personal experience, or if someone gave him this information. For what it's worth, there's already welding on the frame, done by the factory holding the torsion bar crossmember in place.Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC (Sold)Miller Dialarc 250HFMiller MM251Miller MM200 (Sold)Miller MM130Miller Spot WelderVictor O/A rigMiller Spoolmatic 1 (Sold)

Reply:We just welded on our 94 Nisson. This frames been patched all over the place before we got it. Its a very thin frame. I used the MIG on it. Very low heat and wire speed. |
