The "flow" gauge on my LIncoln 175 went south. I have not been able to find a gauge that is labeled in CFPH to replace it and the WIKA site (OEM) does not show any similar gauges. Straight pressure gauges are cheap, but does anyone know what the PSI equivalent would be for 20 to 30 CFPH? Attached Images
Reply:To my knowledge there is no equivalence between CFH and PSI. Compare your household water supply for example. Your water meter tells the water district how many cu.ft of water you use per billing period. If you checked it hourly, it would tell you how many cu. ft. you use per hour. That has little to do with your water pressure in PSI. The pressure may br 45 PSI or 100 PSI, but the pressure only enables the flow of water, it is not the quantity of the flow. The use of shielding gas for GMAW works the same way.I suggest you get a flow meter (with a floating ball in a plastic tube); it would be more accurate than the flow gauge you are taliking about.ScottMiller XMT 350 CC/CV w/gas solenoid opt.Miller S-22A wirefeederBernard 400A "Q" gunMiller Spoolmatic 30A / WC-24C-K 200A torch/gas lensWeldcraft WC-18 watercooled torchHypertherm Powermax 30Victor O/A
Reply:The regulator and gauges that came with your lincoln will have been made by someone other than lincoln. Some major manufacturer like smith or harris. Yours should say who made it on there somewhere. Not that they have to be matched brand but should be matched for the orifice that's in there so getting a gauge to mates with the original makes sense.
Reply:More than likely, you can replace the entire flow meter for the price of the gauge. And it is also highly probable that you can buy a better ball type gauge.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:That gauge is a pressure gauge that has a dial calibrated for flow. I had one of those cheap flowmeters. How they work is the gas flows through a fixed orifice, and the gauge measures the differential pressure at the supply side of the orifice. The amount of pressure feeding the orifice ROUGHLY equates to the flow through the orifice. The parts manual for the flowmeter lists a different orifice for helium, due to it's smaller molecular size.Bottom line is those flowmeters are junk. Spend a few $$'s and get a real flowmeter with the ball and tube.Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC (Sold)Miller Dialarc 250HFMiller MM251Miller MM200 (Sold)Miller MM130Miller Spot WelderVictor O/A rigMiller Spoolmatic 1 (Sold)

Reply:The flowgauge you need to replace is a pressure gauge, but the face has been calibratored for the size orifice that is in the outlet of the flowgauge. It is possible to deterime flow with a pressure gauge , but you would have to have a chart for the orifice size at given pressures. The flowgauge you have is made by Harris Calorific, which is owned by Lincoln Electric. The gauge part number is #9006303 List $15.95. There is also a plastic washer that goes on the tip of the gauge. If you can not find it at your LWS contact me, and I have it in stock.OAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
