I'm a structural welder almost all of the welding I do is stick. Due to the economy there's not a lot of structural work out there right now. I keep coming across small jobs that I really should be using a tig setup on. I have never even tried to tig before but I'm willing to learn. So I'm looking to get a good tig setup that I can run off my trailblazer 302. If anybody has any suggestion on what to buy please let me know. I'm not sure what all I need? Thanks
Reply:Your equipment needs will depend on whether you weld only steel and stainless or must also be able to weld aluminum with TIG. The TB-302 is capable for both with the correct options or buy a Miller Dynasty unit that would plug into the aux. power of the TB-302. If you're looking for low budget solution on DC TIG, buy a TIG torch with a manual gas valve and buy a Miller 14 pin remote control option for the TB-302. A bottle of argon and a flow-regulator and you're ready to weld.
Reply:Dang and here I was thinking a $750.00 complete EconoTig by Miller (a year old & less than 10 hours on it) was a good deal.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build
