Hello..I have asked this question on a different site..why is the face plate on a pipeliners pancake hood perfectly round? no other helmets are that way. The best answer I can get is because our faces are round. if that is the case then why are most helmets square or oval?
Reply:I am not really sure but believe after experimenting it was found to be more functional using this design. It protects the face while allowing ample space to keep the face cool. The way the eye piece works there is no need for the pancake helmet to go around the head. This makes them fit in tighter places, lighter, and cooler. They work very good for outside welding since they keep out the ambient light allowing you to see the work piece better. I have a Wendy and like it a lot. |
