thermal arc 185 wiring,sorry about that guys

sorry about the confusion about my wiring ,but desertrider33 , hit it right on the head,for what ever reason, an electrician ran in my circut  box a 50 amp for 220 ,to run my cst 280 stick inverter, at the time.he used a 4 prong 220 outlet box ,with 4 legs .the 4th leg has no wire to it.strickly a 1 phase hook up.3 wires only,i must of had all the plugs and outlets laying around in a box with the rest of my junk, in my basement, while it my not be the right way it wont do no harm.the cst280 is single or three phase machine, but i dont have 3 phase of course ,in my home.on the cst 280 the 4th wire which i believe is red is taped off.three wires to the plug,three wires to my outlet box.and i even have a 50 ft joo etc extension cord that leads to my yard with the same plug and outlet wiring.4 leg plug and outlet box  wired with 3 wires.4 th leg is dead on everything.why? cause i must of had everything laying around.brand new in a box..anyway back to the thermal arc 185 ,yes ,it is a single phase machine only.and the plug it comes with is a 250 vac (nema 6-50p) now the question is if i cut the plug off and hook up a 4 leg plug to ( which like everything else is only 3 wires,4th leg is dead) on my plugs and outlets,by cutting off the plug ,those it void the warranty or am i better off making a pig tail. i no ,again so no confusion down the  road i should switch to the correct pugs and outlets ,but no one in the house will touch any of this.it comes down to either leaving the plug on the 185 and switch everything else or cut the plug and make it match what i have .thanks again
