Anybody know where to get one?
Reply:No, but since this thread will eventually have 300 posts and 25,000 views, I'd like to get in early.  Pyroracing - Isn't FL the surplus RV cord center of the world?
Reply:I generally make them to custom lengths on my own from 10-2 wire.
Reply:yep  ooddles an ooddles of threads  make your own  any ( big box ) hardware type store for parts
Reply:Check ebay for RV extension cords.  There are 200v ones rated at 50 amps and are fairly reasonable.

Reply:Some weld supply shops even sell extension cords, imagine that.  You can also check RV supply shops (aka Camping World), contractor's supply shops (aka White Cap), hardware stores (Home Depot, Lowe's, True Value, Ace), or even electrical contractor's supply shops (aka CES).Last edited by DesertRider33; 07-16-2009 at 10:41 PM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:I got a little more interesting extension cord question.  I ordered a new welder yesterday and should have it in my possesion tommarrow.  A miller Maxstar 150s (stick only).  Anyways the manual says that the max length of a 12ga cord I can use is 29ft.  I'm okay with that.  15-20ft would prolly cover my immediate needs.  What I am wondering is how the length of the run in the building will effect things.  I intend to use this shiny new piece of equipment in a 200ft hog house on tuesday.  Dragging a tombstone and 200ft of heavy cord around is no fun.  There are outlets all along the ceiling that I plan on using.  I guess what I am trying to ask is....if I plug my cord in at the opposite end of the building from the breaker panel, will I have problems?
Reply:It "could" be a problem. If it does become a PIA problem then just get a small genset.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge

Reply:Could like anything is possibleI imagine these outlets share a load  too.Good Luck :0probably work just fine unless yer balls to the wall. I ran a Lincoln 135 on 100' of ext cord plugged into a 15 amp receptacle on a 1933 Apartment building- only time I had a problem was when someone decided to use the Dryer.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:Thanks for the input.  These particular outlets are a 20 amp circuit with nothing plugged into any of them.  I'm assuming they are either there for optional circulation fans or for building service/repair.  Either way, all four rooms (8 poles each) have them and they will be real handy.  One short cord will be a lot easier to clean up afterward too.
Reply:Is this a 120 volt or 240 volt welder?
